Choices

I choose not to look at my life and wonder what could’ve been

I choose not to look at my situation and see an unmovable mountain

I choose not to look at my struggles and remain broken

I choose not to look at my God and question

I choose not to look at my failures and believe it’s all I’ll ever be

I choose not to look at others with the eyes of envy

I choose not to look at this world and see a catastrophe

I choose not to look into the eyes of loved ones and feel anything less than lucky

I choose not to let how I feel about my present affect my future

I choose not to be weighed down by the flaws in my features

I choose not to scroll and wish my life was like those in the pictures

I choose not to close my eyes to life’s oh so many treasures

I choose not to look at the creator of the universe and not be obsessed

I choose not to look at the blessings I have and my gratitude not be the deepest

I choose not to look at the path I’ve traveled and believe I’m just like the rest

I choose not to look at my life and feel less than blessed
