fifth row

I sit in Your house of worship on the fifth row

The pastor preaches that Your word is a light that we should all follow

Everyone claps in agreeance because they all know

But my claps don’t mean that through my actions, it’s always shown

I sit in Your house of worship on the fifth row

Feeling like I’m looking through a one-way glass window

I see the love and joy in the congregation that overflows

But inside I feel hollow

I sit in Your house of worship on the fifth row

Wanting to believe that I can be just like an echo

Following Your commands until it’s my time to go

And see the face of the man that’s showered blessings on me since long ago

I sit in Your house of worship on the fifth row

Praying that though You see the actions that I show

You also see a heart that loves You and just wants to grow,

Grow into the person You’ve always known

  1. Deep writing here. I think the experience in God’s house is so much deeper when you observe as if not physically there at all. It’s easier to read people being fake for attention or if their heart is truly gloryfing God
